Why Do Leaves Fall?
The Strategic Winter Shutdown
When autumn violently arrives, the incredibly brilliant explosion of bright reds, vibrant yellows, and deep oranges that aggressively covers massive forests isn't totally just a completely beautiful natural show. It is an incredibly strategic, highly desperate, and brilliant massive survival mechanism actively executed by every single deciduous tree.
As the autumn days gradually get significantly shorter and the sunlight dwindles, sensitive biological photoreceptors located heavily inside the massive tree quickly realize that the brutal, freezing winter is rapidly entirely approaching.
Winter guarantees bitterly freezing cold temperatures, deeply frozen solid ground, and a severe, absolute lack of accessible liquid water. Because the tree's massive broad leaves are essentially giant, delicate, highly sensitive solar panels that constantly rapidly leak entirely precious internal water directly out entirely through thousands of tiny microscopic pores (a chemical process called highly intense transpiration), aggressively attempting to forceably keep them biologically alive over the freezing winter would entirely bleed the massive tree completely dry.
To actively prevent dying of severe winter thirst, the massive tree wisely actively forcefully decides to securely cut its massive losses.

Unmasking The True Hidden Colors
First, the tree completely and forcefully ceases producing any more Chlorophyll, the brilliant, highly unstable green chemical that allows leaves to actively capture massive sunlight and rapidly turn it strictly into food.
Because chlorophyll is completely and highly unstable, it rapidly entirely breaks down and absolutely disappears completely from the dying leaf. As the incredibly thick, highly dominant vibrant green completely fades entirely away, the leaf's incredibly hidden "true" base colors (the brilliant bright yellows and deep bright oranges that were actually secretly there hiding the entire whole summer!) are suddenly finally completely aggressively revealed to the entire world.
Finally, the massively smart tree purposefully forms a thick, dense layer of highly tough, completely dry cork-like cells exactly directly at the highly sensitive base of the fragile leaf stem. This heavy cork "scab" completely violently cuts off the entire rapid flow of heavy internal water. Once completely structurally amputated, the completely dead, totally dry leaf simply safely gracefully drops completely down down to the heavy ground.
